Our story goes back to the 1930s, when the family business began its journey in Mauritius with the sale of foodstuffs.

As the needs of the market evolved, the family recognised an opportunity to enter the hardware sector and provide customers with access to quality products at competitive prices.

In 1986, Wan Trading Co Ltd was established, marking an important milestone in the development of the business under the familiar A1 name.

Another significant chapter followed in 1992 with the completion of the A1 Building, which became an important hub for the company’s operations.

Over the years, A1 continued to expand its product range, develop relationships with suppliers from different countries and build a growing network of customers across both retail and wholesale markets.

Today, that heritage continues to shape the way we do business.
